Stroudsburg is a borough in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in the Poconos region of the state, approximately five miles (8km) from the Delaware Water Gap, at the confluence of the Brodhead and Pocono Creeks. It is the county seat of Monroe County. Stroudsburg is part of the East Stroudsburg, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area. Since Stroudsburg is located in Monroe County, it is therefore part of the New York metropolitan area. Stroudsburg was laid out by Col. Jacob Stroud (17351806) in 1799.
