Free Nicotine Patches for PA Residents!
Free Nicotine Patches - PA Residents only
The Pennsylvania Department of Health will offer FREE Nicotine Replacement therapy starter kits to qualified applicants starting Feb 2nd.
The nicotine replacement therapy kits include a four-week supply of nicotine patches and related information and they can be obtained by calling the toll-free Quitline at 1-800-784-8669.
Callers must agree to enroll in a free cessation program with the Quitline and set a quite date. The cessation program ranges from three to six phone sessions. They must qualify for the starter kit by answering questions regarding medical conditions that would rule out safe use of patches.
There is no cost for phone support, which can range from three to six sessions. Each kit contains a four-week supply of patches and information.
More smoking cessation information and support is available at www.determinedtoquit.com. The site provides guidance in developing a quit plan; the quit companion and calculator; and video blogs of Pennsylvanians sharing their stories about quitting. There is information for friends and family members of smokers who wish to support to their love one in their quit attempt.
Acting Secretary of Health Everette James announced the patch program in conjunction with the announcement of Determined to Quit Week, Jan25-31st.
You cannot call prior to February 2nd, as the program doesn't start until then. They answer the phone "American Cancer Society" or something to that affect. This appears to be open to Pennsylvania Residents only, who wish to partake in quitting smoking.
Remember to need to qualify medically, as well as agree to the 3 to 6 phone sessions - in order to receive the free nicotine patches.
