What a Country!
Happy New Year! I just reutrned froma fantastic trip to Cancun over the New Year. My family and I had a great time, but as usual were "glad to be back"! While in Mexico we had the opportunity to talk with people from all over the world.
I spoke with a Mexican couple from Mexico City and of course the chat turned to real estate---what surprise! Well, it appears from my conversation that homeownership is highly valued in Mexico as a great way to protect their economic future. They feel it is the best way to hedge their money against future inflation, etc..
That says a lot, and something we may not be relaying to our children and customers enough. Buying a house helps protect your future to some extent. For many it IS their retirement as most companies other than larger corporations or the Government provide "retirement" plans for workers.
On that note, the Government Retirement plans, Federal, State and local will be the next thing that needs to go away as there increasing costs can only be funded by higher taxes on workers who do not have the same benefit at their private sector job.
IMHO
